Chris Eubank Jr vs. Liam Smith + Undercard | Manchester, England

Introduction

This weekend we are treated to a great all British affair with Eubank Jr taking on Liam Smith. 2 fighters evenly matched and needing a win to really kick start another world title drive. I think this is both their final chances to really push for world title hopes. Liam has already been a world champion and would love regain that status once more before retirement. Eubank Jr still looking to get his hands on a major world title before he bows out of the sport. 

The undercard should also give us some tasty match ups as we have Richard Riakporhe vs Krzysztof Glowacki & Joseph Parker vs Jack Massey. Both interesting fights and should add some meat to the bone for this solid card from Manchester, England.

Lets breakdown each fight and see where my thoughts lie on the outcomes & the best betting opportunities.

Chris Eubank Jr vs. Liam Smith | Middleweight | 12 rounds

After some serious controversy surrounding Chris Eubanks last fight its great to see him get an opponent that not only is a fan favourite, but is also credible challenge. This main event is underrated and should be a really treat for all boxing fan alike. Liam Smith is an ex world champion who has been in with the likes of Canelo Alvarez. He's had a brilliant career up to now and time & time again has shown he is levels above many fighters in the division.

Eubank Jr is a marmite fighter, he's known for getting under his opponents skins during press conference's & the general build up leading up to his fights. Whether his humour is to your taste or not, one thing we can all agree on is his entertainment factor. He always brings 100% (even if he says he hasn't trained hard) & puts it all on the line. Eubank hasn't been in with the same level of competition as Liam Smith which I think has been majorly overlooked in this fight.

Taking all things into consideration If Eubank Jr can turn the heat on and perform the way he started his fight against Liam Williams, I think he is a fair shout for the victory on Saturday. Will it be closely contested? 100%, but I think with Eubanks endurance, hand speed & pre-fight mind games he can get the job done. I don't see him taking Liam Smith out as he's proven to be a durable boxer throughout his impressive career. Eubank Jr to win by any means in this one for me. Richard Riakporhe vs. Krzysztof Glowacki | Cruiserweight | 10 rounds

Richard Riakporhe is one of the most exciting fighters to watch in the UK. He's big, strong, good lucking and has immense power. He boasts an impressive 15-0-0 with 11 of these wins coming by way of KO. His opponent the battle hardened Glowacki, who some may remember from his fight with another Brit, Lawrence Okolie. Glowacki is much more experienced than Riakporhe and has proven he isn't an easy pushover. He has an impressive resume himself with a 32-3-0 record.

Looking at these records it would be easy to overlook Riakporhe from an experience point of view, he's had less than half of Glowacki's fights. However, Riakporhe is a steam train that doesn't look like stopping anytime soon. He dispatched Fabio Turchi in 2 rounds with a lovely body shot which he threw with little effort.

So what do I expect the outcome of this fight to look like? I think Riakporhe will get rid of Glowacki between 6-12. He could finish him earlier, but I'd like to see him ease his way into the fight and not rush his work. He's an intelligent fighter and knows that he needs to continue to show his skills that will keep his stock rising. I honestly believe this will be a nearly certain win for Riakporhe with odds of 1.26 for the KO victory.

Joseph Parker vs. Jack Massey | Heavyweight | 10 rounds

Joseph Parker will be taking on England's very own Jack Massey in a heavyweight contest. Both will be looking to make an impressive showing to the Manchester crowd in hopes of rallying towards a world title fight in the near future.

Parker is coming off a big loss against Joe Joyce, this fight could've catapulted him back into heavyweight contention if he managed to grab the victory. Unfortunately the Juggernaut was just too much for him on this occasion. Even though he didn't manage to get the victory this time round, Parker still showed how dangerous and game he really is. He is going to be there all night pushing Jack Massey. I think he should come away with the victory in a reasonably contested fight.

Jack Massey hasn't been in with the level of Parker ever before. He has faced Riakporhe where he lost on points convincingly. Joseph Parker is an established heavyweight that has a proven track record of competing with the best around the world. This experience will see him through to a victory, potentially by knockout, but 100% a minimum on points. I'm always conservative and would prefer increasing my odds rather than chasing the big returns. Therefore a Parker victory by any means would be the best bet for me in this one. Parker is a big favourite for this one so our returns are very suppressed, but should be a good fight to help build up that bankroll.
